Spontaneous Trip to London/Vegan Life Live event!

One thing that we are really going to miss about living in England is London. We absolutely love London; I'm sure this is because we are tourists. We just love how busy the city is and how much there is going on; Especially the vegan scene! It is really happening, in all aspects, for vegans in London.

For example, I posted on Facebook earlier this week asking if there was anything going on this weekend. (Since we leave the country in just under 8 weeks, we thought we would try to make the most of all the time we have left here. This includes more day trips, weekend trips, Europe trips, visiting friends and attending the vegan socials in Birmingham.) A friend of ours responded on my status saying that there is a vegan festival (Vegan Life Live)  in London this weekend. We thought "sure why not, we love travelling around the UK to the vegan festivals and a few of our friends were attending." We said yes, and we actually ended up getting free entry to the festival as we know someone who knows someone. (Isn't that how everything in life works?)

Anyways, we searched on National rail for train tickets to London. We found £15.80 same day return for both of us. This is a great way to go to London for the weekend, as we didn't need to shell out money for an expensive hotel for only one night.

We woke up bright and early and caught the 6:54am train to London. We were able to have a little nap during our journey, so it wasn't all bad getting up that early. We met our friend The Vegan Engineer at London Euston and took the train to Alexandra Palace. (Why WOULDN'T the festival be in a palace!)

We had a fantastic time at the festival and were very happy we decided to go. It was bigger than we thought and had oodles of stalls that we'd never seen before. There were many talks and demonstrations as well. We watched a cool demonstration by Chef King CookDaily who runs CookDaily in Shoreditch Boxpark. He showed how to make different kinds of Vegan Mylk and gave out samples. It was great.
Once we left the palace, we took the train back to Euston and went to The Vegan Engineers hotel so he could check in. Then we made our way to Leicester Square to support our friends participating in the Earthlings Experience.

We decided to Vlog our time at the festival and the Earthlings experience, so watch our video:

We had a wonderful time in London. We have another trip planned to London in the near future before we leave, so stay tuned for more of what London has to offer. We are doing our research and planning to make sure we make the most of our time in London before we leave the UK. We want to see more of the sights and check out all the vegan places we've missed.

  4. Love the photo of the pig and dog, I love both, growing up the pigs were actually my favorite animal on the farm. They are also very intelligent. Glad you had such a nice time at the Vegan event

  10. Making the most of your time before all these things become expensive and time-consuming.

But you may need a holiday after a few weeks!
